(b. 1996, Yoshkar-Ola, Russia)
Lives and works in Russia.
Irina’s painting practice centers on her desire to prolong the fleeting moments of everyday life and a pursuit of the sublime.
Working primarily with oil paint, she creates personal narrative with a sense of sentimental longing for something unattainable, whether it would be a shiny object or a tender feeling.
Painted in a realistic tradition, her canvases often explore the themes of sensation, memory, femininity and desire.
Irina draws her inspiration from vast archive of digital media sources, including film stills, found videos as well as photographs. Rather than replicated in a full and precise manner, images are cropped, altered and composed in a way that leaves the viewer open to their own personal interpretations and narratives.
